7:00pm City Hall Meeting for Eric Kleemeyer
Speeches Addressed to City Council
written by: Katrina Lalowski (cousin of Eric Kleemeyer).
After the Santa Clara Police Department murdered my cousin, Eric, I've been contemplating whether or not I should still live here in Santa Clara after having lived here my whole life.  How am I supposed to respect the people who are supposed to protect and serve us, when it seems as though they just want to intimidate us and instill fear into our lives?  I was looking at the official Santa Clara Police Department website, and the website states that the police are making an effort to make Santa Clara a safe place to live.  However, I feel that this is a false statement.  How am I supposed to feel safe when I could be sitting in my living room watching TV, when a stray bullet could penetrate my skull to cause my instantaneous demise?  It's alarming to know that the police are willing to shoot at an unarmed person in a residential area.  I think that not only Eric's family, but the community as a whole, deserves answers as to how the police handled this situation.
More speeches will be up soon.
